Say ou tell: qual a diferença?

Use tell quando disser para quem ("tell me"). Use say quando o foco é o que foi dito ("say hello"). Tell + pessoa; say + palavras.

Tell: precisa da pessoa

She told me the truth.Ela me contou a verdade.
Tell him to call me.Diga a ele para me ligar.

Say: foco no que foi dito

He said he was tired.Ele disse que estava cansado.
Say something!Diga alguma coisa!

Se quiser usar say com a pessoa, coloque to: "He said to me that…". Com tell, não: "He told me that…".
